Spanish Travel Guides
Only one state in the U.S. can boast world class amusement parks and resorts, stunning beaches, tropical islands, unique nature preserves and interesting cities: Florida. The Sunshine State is home to many of the top tourist destinations and attractions in the entire world. Understanding Florida’s geography, culture and sense of place before visiting are key.
For starters, Florida is located in the extreme southeast of the continental United States. It boasts a fairly hot, humid climate year round, so dress accordingly. The best mode of transportation in Florida is by car, although many cities like Orland, Miami Tampa and Jacksonville hold major international airports, not to mention cruises based primarily out of Miami.
Culturally, Florida is unique in that even though it is located in the Deep South of the United States geographically, many of its residents are transplants from other places, especially retirees from the Midwest and Northeast. Southern culture is most evident in the Florida Panhandle and North Florida. English is the dominant language in Florida, although Spanish is common as well due to the state’s large Latino and Caribbean population. Lastly, Florida varies from cheap to expensive depending on where you plan on visiting, so be sure to do some research beforehand.
