Many of Australia's natural treasures can only be discovered by leaving the car behind and escaping to the wilderness with a tent and a good pair of boots. Here are some of Australia’s best bushwalks:

The Overland Track - Tasmania

Known as one of the world’s best walking trails, this 5-10 day walk winds for 80km from Cradle Mountain in the north to Lake St Clair – Australia’s deepest freshwater lake – in the south. The trail is only open to a limited number of walkers at a time and takes in pristine lakes, snow-capped mountains and emerald beech forests. There are empty huts along the way with fresh water tanks but walkers are advised to bring their own camping gear in case the huts fill up. Breathe in some of the freshest air on earth and enjoy a rare slice of unspoiled wilderness.
