Jacki Weaver
Weaver is nominated for her role in Animal Kingdom, which centres around the activities of a Melbourne crime family. Animal Kingdom was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2010 but the film has not gone on to be great commercial success, earning just $1 million at the US box office. It is believed that a rigorous direct marketing campaign has been undertaken over the past few months to ensure that the film was seen by Oscar voters.
